Welcome from the Vice President of Financial Affairs

It is my distinct honor and pleasure to welcome you to the new Student Government Association Finance website. In response to student feedback, the Student Government Association has consolidated the vast universe of student organization finances into what we hope will be a more accessible and resourceful format.

The Student Activity Fee, overseen by the Student Government Association, was instituted to fund activities which contribute to the general enrichment of the undergraduate student's university experience by serving the interests of the diverse student population which pays the fee; creating opportunities for student participation in a wide range of activities; creating social environments on campus; fostering the development of satisfying leisure-time interests; contributing to a sense of community for the entire student population and providing support for student-run learning experiences outside the formal classroom.

Nearly 90 years later, the Student Government Association maintains the same dedication to serving students, as we support and contribute to the mission, goals and values of the University of Maryland and our campus community.

The processes of applying for funding, spending money and the general guidelines that govern student organization finances are not too difficult to understand, but they are not all too straightforward either-- for someone completely new to the process, it can be daunting. As your Vice President of Financial Affairs, it is my job to make these procedures easy to understand, and I hope this website will prove to be a useful resource for you and your student organization. Should you be in need of any assistance throughout my term, please do not hesistate to contact me.
